AltusLumen TRI-L rechargeable and portable light in a new green gadget, a magnesium-based rechargeable LED light with a 300-degree hinge and tripod to allow the light to be positioned at any angle. The TRI-L adheres to 5 bold and environmentally sound principles adopted by AltusLumen, including being made from recycled and recyclable material, energy-efficient, and uses renewable energy.
The TRI-L uses magnesium for the case, which is one of a few materials that can endlessly be recycled without degradation (unlike paper, wood, or plastic). Using ultra-bright and efficient LEDs, the light runs for several hours on a single charge and can be charged by a solar panel with the optional solar charger.
The tripod feature makes the torch particularly useful to use in tight corners, despite not being particularly aesthetically pleasing. With a price tag of $99 (but cheaper on Amazon), it will no doubt put off most buyers, as it’s pretty expensive for what is basically a torch. Aside from that, the concept is a good one, and I applaud the efforts of AltusLumen for trying to do something a little different.
