Konarka Technologies have announced their Roll-up Solar Charger that uses ultra-thin solar panels to harness the sun’s energy. Although the product is still in development, there will be two variations of the charger. The first version will be a direct charger that charges up devices like mobile phones and MP3 players. The second version will contain an internal battery which is charged up via the rolled-up solar panel. Then the battery is then used to charge devices.
Although there are plenty of solar chargers on the market, this green gadget will be a lot more practical by having a significantly larger surface area compared to other solar chargers. No cost information has been released yet, but as long as it’s priced less than $70, it will probably sell really well.
